The X58A boards seem to work ok with Intel Xeon W35XX processors and ECC ram, even though ECC isn't supported. With the latest round of cpus, is ECC handled completely by the cpu, or is it something that has to be activated in the bios (or both)? Is Gigabyte not mentioning ECC because it doesn't have anything to do with it now that it is cpu dependent? I understand that it will work, but if ECC ram is used, does it function as ECC ram or is it ignored? Lots of conflicting info floating around.
