i recently upgraded my system:

gigabyte P965-S3
intel e6400
eVGA 8800GTS 320mb
1gb corsair XMS2
Western Digital 160gb SATAII
Thermaltake TR2-500W

i was having strange problems with my previous system with incessant and undiscernable crashing in games, so i decided to ditch it and get new parts. now i've tried to install the inf update utility and the drivers for the p965 chipset and i've been having some problems. first off, whenever i attempt to install, i'll get a blue screen with a 0x7E stop code. after the stop code, i restarted and the driver *appeared* to be installed. but a few days later, windows suddenly gives me before boot that pci.sys is either missing or corrupted and that i have to attempt to repair it using the recovery console. i simply ended up reinstalling windows.

anyone have this issue with the DS3/S3? more importantly, anyone know how to fix it?

haven't tried yet but i did on my previous system and i never ran into any errors. i might end up not installing the drivers for it entirely and leaving it at that.
