Is this kit a good fit for this board (CPU = i7 920)?

Corsiar XMS3 6GB DDR3-1600 (PC-12800) CL8 Memory Kit (Three 2GB Memory Modules) @ $139.99 after Rebate

I had originally been planning on getting these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231225
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ - Retail @ 164.99

$25 savings isn't anything to sneeze at IMO if they're as good or better? Thanks!

I also recently purchased the same kit of Corsairs at microcenter to go with a recent build. Im running a 920 @ a little over 4ghz with the ram @1720 (215 bclk x 8.0). Im using the x58a-ud5, which is very similar to the ud3r. They are running solid and passed memtest. I would highly recommend them.

I have 12gb of these Corsairs (the older 1333 9-9-9-27 silver heatspreader ones) and they work fine (mine are oc'd to 1488 9-9-9-27 2T 1.66vdimm).

ok its been a while since I have this mb but I currrenlty have only 6GB of Ram
I want to go max on the memory since its cheaper
what is the max this MB can take I am running Win 7 Ultimate

what Ram anyone recomends with X58a-ud3r rev 1.

I was looking for this but not sure if its the right choice

Thank you

There is no guarantee that those modules will work on that older platform. That's because the correct ICs of the correct IC density that are guaranteed to work on such older systems are now no longer in production; as a result, those modules may now be made up of single-sided DIMMs with 4Gx8 IC chips. Earlier 4GB DIMMs were made up of double-sided DIMMs with 2Gx8 IC chips that were guaranteed to work with X58 and earlier chipsets, and 4GB per DIMM (or 2GB per line/rank) is the official maximum that's supported in the LGA 1366 CPU and X58 chipset combination.

Vengeance® — 24GB Triple Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9)

This kit is listed on corsair's site as a compatible kit for the X58-UD3R. I have the same board and am looking to buy this kit as well.

Just wanted to say I ordered the kit I posted above and it's working flawlessly so far. I didn't bench it with anything but my windows performance index went from a 7.6 to a 7.8 with this ram over the 1333 I had installed before.

I've recently installed 24Gb CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9 into my x58a-ud5 and using the XMP profiles its rock soild.
