I'm having issues with trying to run my 8800GS in my AM2 system.
It's not the video card because it works fine in a emachines I have sitting around.
My Antec EarthWatts should also be good enough for my system.
I can run windows great but when I play pretty much any game I'll get freezing with sound
looping, sometimes out of no where textures will get all weird. For instance in need for speed underground 2 the menu will get all corrupted and weird stuff like that, when I freeze in cod4 textures will disappear as well.
When I freeze if I press my caps lock button the light takes a long time to come on. Sometimes I can alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del out of the game and get back to the desktop.
After I've frozen once, If i alt-tab out of a game it will freeze, if I start a game it will freeze for a bit, same if I close it. I also get the delayed caps lock. Sometimes my Realtek control panel will pop up saying that I've connected an audio device and ask me what it is.
I've tried the bios that came with my board and the latest bios with no benefit. I've tried the nvidia drivers on my cd and the latest ones. I've also tried the motherboard drivers on the cd and the "latest" ones of Gigabyte's website.
It seems that setting the "Init Display First" to PEG from PCI helps but just seems to delay the freezing.
Sometimes I get "DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error" when Cod4 freezes and once I close the error and Cod4 my Icons take an long ass time to load, If I roll over the start button it takes a long time for it to change as well. If I try opening things during this sluggishness after a while they will all open at once, like the system suddenly regained its speed.
I've had music playing during this sluggishness and it kept playing fine, even though windows seemed to be dragging ass. I've looped 3dMark06 for 7 hours overnight before and it was still going when I came back, Processor is Prime95 stable and ram is Memtest86+ stable/fine.
This system was fine with my old 8600GT but with this 8800GS I'm getting nothing but problems, The 8800GS is fine, but I can't figure out what are causing these issues in my main system with it.
Thanks
