So I just got my new motherboard, and set up a raid 0 config. I downloaded the newest drivers for the raid/sata off the gigabyte website. Before I installed vista I loaded them up and everything installed fine.

On the last reboot where you are supposed to configure vista it wont boot.

If I boot normaly then it just freezes for a few seconds and then reboots. If I start in safe mode then it freezes on crcdisk.sys. It will then reboot.

I know I have the correct drivers installed and everything, so what is going on?

Surely there are other DS3 owners running a raid 0 config with Vista.

i have the same mobo but not doing raid 0. i did however boot successfully with the sata ports set to ahci. not sure what the problem is.

I'm having the exact same problem, except that I'm using RAID-1 (mirror). I found another forum posting here:

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=237274

That seems to indicate it's not just a Vista thing. Their "solution" is to install onto a single drive, ghost to a DVD, set-up the RAID and then restore the image into the RAID array. I've opted to mail gigabyte directly instead. :) I suggest you do the same. You can start here:

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/ServiceCenter.aspx

In their FAQ for this board they mention a firmware update to the networking chip that might have something to do with a "Vista Hang" and "RAID failure".

I'm going to try that if I can figure out how to do it without a floppy drive. If that doesn't work (and gigabyte doesn't come through soon) I'll try to send it back to newegg for a GA-965P-DS3P (this has the Intel raid controller).

So, it turns out the "Gigabyte GBB36X" raid controller is really a JMicron JMB363 raid controller. Downloading drivers directly from JMicron here:

http://www.jmicron.com/Driver.htm

did the trick! Just use the files in "Floppy32" or "Floppy64" when installing and everything is a go. Cool.
