Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 weird problem

I'm having this strange problem with my Gigabyte DS3 board. I just recently swapped video cards, sending in my GeForce 7800 GTX in for RMA so I picked up a temp Radeon X1900 GT for use for now. With the X1900 GT, the system seems to hang before getting to BIOS, as if the video card is not being recognized. I have to press it onto the motherboard real hard for the system to boot properly. The video card is installed properly, and there was no more room for me to push it. But it is a freaky solve, I just press on it and system would boot.

Anyone with any bright ideas? I've never had this problem with my GeForce 7800 GTX. Now I'm afraid when I get it back, I may have to RMA the motherboard too.

I've seen some cards where the rear bracket was not folded properly at the top. This causes the card to not be seated properly in the slot, or the folded top of the the bracket to not rest flush as it should.

With the card seated in the slot, look across the bottom edge where it plugs into the PCI-E slot, and see if the contacts are raised up out of the slot or the card is in the slot at an angle.

Did you use the correct stand-offs under the mobo?

What do you mean this new card is a "temp"?

I hope you don't mean you bought it and plan to return it to the store when you are done "borrowing" it.

The card is not in an angle and the bottom is sealed properly. Motherboard is on the right spacers.

It's not as bad now, 2 out of 3 starts works alright. I guess I'll just kinda wing it until my 7800 GTX returns.

BTW why do I have to explain where or how I have obtained a temp card?

My question is not a moral one, it's a technical one.

If you really wanted to know, it's my friend's card from his crossfire setup. He hasn't been using it so I borrowed it.

Point taken. My apologies, you're right.

Good to hear it's working acceptably.

You know what? I think I found the culprit. I brought it into a shop to have it looked at and the tech pulled off my HSF to see if I was just BS'ing them. He figured I didn't mount a CPU onto it.

So whatever, it was there, so he mounts the HSF back and the system posted on every boot! It totally fluked out. I take it home, plug everything back in and it all worked fine. Then I spotted the temperature on SpeedFan. 30 C!!! What?!% I didn't have a temperature that low EVER, and the system ran for 2 weeks with a 36 C idle. So I figured the HSF was probably not mounted properly, or AS5 didn't spread evenly, or something. But whatever I ran Orthos and got 45 C for load.

My theory is that the CPU or the HSF never sat properly and was causing the motherboard not posting.
