Gigabyte DS3 Mobo & RAID

Ok from what I have been hearing is that if you use the Gigabyte DS3 mobo and you run a RAID on it, IDE drives experience problems and you get a loss of system performance. This worries me because I currently have a RAID 0 setup and am looking at the DS3 for the next build come the end of the year. Can anyone shine some light on the subject of what the deal is with this mobo and raid?
 
1) A single 320GB 16MB cache drive, or one of the 16MB Raptors, will give you better responsiveness out of your system, than the RAID-0 setup in your sig.

2) The 965P chipset doesn't support PATA...are you talking about the Gigabyte add in controller's PATA port, or are you not talking about PATA drives at all?

3) The ICH8R has been reported to have pretty rotten storage performance in "IDE" mode, but switching to AHCI or RAID mode (both of which require F6 drivers for Windows setup) resolve those issues.
