GIGABYTE BIOS Update Issue - EFI Boot Error

So, issue popped up that I haven't resolved yet.

GIGABYTE B660 Aorus Master DDR4

Current list of updated BIOS

I was on F30 and attempted to update to F34. After updating, applying optimized defaults, and re-enabling standard settings (XMP, Disabling software install, fan curves) I was receiving an EFI Boot error "The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors" when booting from my NVME 1.0 PCIe SSD. I installed Windows onto a SATA SSD and was able to boot just fine, reinstalled on the NVME and received the error.

I rolled back to F33, same problem. Rolled back to F32 and was able to boot into Windows with the NVME drive.

So the question is has anyone else experienced this or see anything in the BIOS change logs that stands out to you would cause this error booting from a NVME drive and what may need to be changed to resolve it?

F34
  • Improves platform security by making Secure Boot enabled as system default
  • Update KingBank 3200 JHICC chip 16G module support
F33
  • Enhance platform security by enable Pre-boot DMA Protection, VT-d, and IOMMU Pre-boot as default
  • Added CPU support for Intel 120/120F processors
  • Update CSME version to 16.1.38.2676v4.1
  • Added support for AI TOP Utility v4.1.1

The CSME update would seem to affect the CSM legacy booting option. Maybe the update turns that on by default which may be incompatible with NVME.

Agree ^^^
When CSM is enabled, the system operates in legacy mode, which is incompatible with GPT drives.

Fixed.

Settings -> IO Ports
Control IOMMU Pre-boot Behavior - Disable

This new feature added which is not compatible with older NVME/PCIE devices.

The Windows Boot Manager partition was protected by the pre-boot checks and was unable to read due to incompatibility with the older NVMe disk.
