I have a Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 Motherboard with F11 Bios Updated

Problem:
I installed paid for 8 GB of GSkill Ripjaws on amazon, but the system is only seeing 4 GB for some reason. I have looked all thru the manual which mentions enabling dual channel mode, but it doesn't say how or where to do this. My memory is installed in the recommended slots DDR3_1 DDR3_2 according to the manual and matching dimms. CPU-Z says DDR3 Dual 4096MB

SPD says slot 1 2048MB, PC3-10700 (667Mhz), GSkill F3-12800-CL9-2GBRL
SPD says slot 2 2048MB, PC3-10700 (667Mhz), GSkill F3-12800-CL9-2GBRL

Delivery Dec 2, 2011
8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Ripjaw Series (9-9-9-24) Dual Channel kit for Intel LGA1156/AM3"
Personal Computers; $63.50
In Stock
Sold by: xun pan

These were the last 8GB ripjaw's in stock at the time I was buying my system.

I don't understand why it is detecting a different kind of memory than what I puchased. The plastic packaging says F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

Can someone who is familiar with gigabyte boards and bios please tell me what I must do in the bios to enabled dual channel modes.

This what I put together tonight, but for some reason the memory is off even with the latest bios revision F11.

When I put my i7 together, I experienced this same issue. Turned out even though I was exteemely careful seating the cpu, a pin got bent. I had to use a magnifying glass and a tweezer to find it and set it straight, which resolved the issue.

SPD has already told you the modules are F3-12800-CL9-2GBRL which are 2GB and if you only have 2 of them that's 2x2GB=4GB.

I pulled the ram to verify and sure enough they say PC12800-8GBRL on the sticker. Both dimm's say it, so I am going to call gigabyte on monday and get to the bottom of this asap.

broken sticks of memory or maybe someone switched stickers and packaging?

hope you get it sorted out, from what I see on tech forums, gskill has good customer support. Lets hope there is truth in those posts :)

Here is the bios results since someone was interested

I have tried getting it to work by using an XMP profile and I have tried to force the timings and voltage which they all end in this.

I have no idea how to fix the missing 4gb...

Mike2007x86 I have already explained what the problem is. You need to contact the person/company that sold you the RAM and tell them that although the sticker says 8GB (2x4GB) the kit is 4GB (2x2GB) as shown by the SPD data.

The module number F3-12800-CL9-2GBRL is flashed onto the SPD chip and is read only. Most likely they sent the wrong modules or less likely the wrong SPD data was flashed, either way it's a RMA. Don't forget to outline all the trouble you have been to, if they are decent they will not only give you a replacement but hopefully some compensation for you trouble.

Another option would be to ask for your money back and buy the kit cheaper elsewhere.
