Gigabyte Aurora case + unique modding?

Hello. I was redirected here after asking a fiendish question at another forum, but it looks like you know what you're talking about so I hope somebody can help me with this.

I have a newish Gigabyte Aurora case that has been sitting peacefully underneath my desk. If you look carefully at the linked page, you'll notice mention of a "Customizable Light Beam Projector" i.e. a piece of acetate with a logo printed on it. It's a nice idea, and you get a spare sheet of acetate to make your own, but I was thinking of going one better: using a completely transparent LCD screen to have a moving version...

This will be difficult, and so I came here to ask if anybody knows of this happening in the past. Google has offered me no solutions yet, but you all seem intelligent and may know either of a guide of some sort or a suitable product.

Although an all-in-one backlit solution might work, space is tight and using the normal backlight would be more elegant (backlight is in fact lighting on front fan, plus an extra led). To get an estimate of size, this page links to word docs with sample images (it's .doc, not .pdf, and not 7.5MB either). It is kinda small, though I'm sure that overlapping wouldn't be a huge problem. Power should be easy enough to supply, just by splitting the molex going to the front fan, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Pics of setup (though some of you probably own one anyway):
Clip in place as seen from underside

Size of clip

Clip fitting (you can just see where the fan is. There's also an extra LED at the back, possibly too small to see)
And that's what it looks like switched on.

Thanks in advance,
Gecko

just to clarify; what exactly is your aim? You mean, you want to know if it's been done already, or want to know if it's possible?
Do you have suitable lcd that you know of?

I would particularly like to know if it's been done before, or anything similar. Failing that, I'd be really grateful if anybody knows of a suitable lcd screen, and of course for any tips (I've done very little modding in the past). I do expect it to be possible though :)

edit: possible LCD source: http://www.pacificdisplay.com/graphic_lcd.htm
edit2: also found http://www.anders.co.uk/ which is closer to home.
I'd need to custom order a transmissive screen with the size I'm after (about 1 by 2.75 inches).(edit2: No I wouldn't :)) Advantage of a custom order is I can get one of those negative image screens, which will look somewhat better. I'm a bit worried about cost though, but if I can't find anything else I'll send them an email.

If anybody finds another LCD solution please tell me :)

idea; i knwo it's a bit ahead of what i'm meant to be thinking about, but if you amde it a negative LCD and made the backlight a blue LED/s the text would be blue glowing = kewl

That's exactly what I thought :D

Double posting for bump, and possible idea:

Would it work ok if I just took the backlight off a normal lcd module? Thing is, I'll need one where the circuitry isn't in the way of the light passing through. Does anybody know of such a module?
Also, if you know of anywhere that supplies a suitable lcd module with a transmissive screen and no backlight I would be most pleased.
