Gigabyte 8IPXDREL-GG board with 2 xeon cpus

^ + its a refurb.

I have enuff problems with new Gigabyte boards, never mind refurbs...
 
Almost no expansion sucks.

Plus you need an eatx case, an eps power supply or adapters for a normal power supply, and registered memory which is expensive.

It would be better to put that cash to a newer system.
 
does any know if this board will run un-regged ram? this would be a good deal for me as i have all the other parts for it.


and yes i realize it says registered, but some server boards most anyhow, go either way.
 
E7501 chipset requires ECC RAM. Unfortunately that board really sucks. I mean, it is supposed to be a server board, but it doesn't even have PCI-X...single PCI slot is a joke. While you can dump a bunch of RAM in it, if you go to Fry's and pick up their sub $100 motherboard/CPU combos, you will get a lot more performance out of those.
 
thanks for the info. yeah second thought the one pci and no onboard sata is a bummer.
 
I was going to get one, but due to the fact I can't find any information on the board other than from geeks, surplus computers and a few other places, I think I will pass. Even on Gigabytes site I can't seem to find the thing.
