Hey guys so I plan on picking up a Gigabyte 5870 off craigslist tomorrow for ridiculously cheap (sub 300) and was curious if there are any obvious faults with this card/brand?? Being that its so cheap I am hesitant that I am buying a broken piece of hardware (maybe DOA?)

I am trying to figure out a way to actual put it into a computer to test it on site. Havent quite figured that out yet.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
 
Things that sound too good to be true usually are. The 5870 appears to selling new for +$400, a new Gigabyte 5870 1GB is $430 on Newegg right now. Given those prices, I don't see why anyone would sell a used card for under $300 at this point. I think you must see the card in action before you hand over what I presume is cash. Honestly, unless you see the card working beforehand, I'd cancel this arrangement. I think you're gonna get ripped off.
 
If it's the Gigabyte 5870 with the custom cooler I think it doesn't have powerplay active from what I've read. I think the newegg reviews mention this. Also I checked out a tech site review and the gpu-z didn't show the 2d clocks. Also the gpu-z screen didn't show the VRM temps etc which led me to think you can't adjust the voltage on it.
 
So I took the chance, he let me put it in my computer before anything and it works great!

You cant beat a 5870 for $260 bucks!
