I'm sure someone (maybe even the seller themselves) up-bidded it to $500 but I don't think anyone is actually paying $500 for it <- reason I stopped using eBay auctions. Asshats just upbid their own auctions using a separate account.

Yeah - when I started noticing all the auctions I bidded on were getting upbidded by (0) accounts, I was like, WTF? Now its "Buy it now" from the big names I know. Even then, it's usually when there's a coupon involved. Otherwise, I'll just go to their website and buy it the normal way.
