Gigabit VPN options?

..or you could just give stock FreeBSD a spin but no webui in that case.

The "State" column continuously switches between CPU1 and CPU0 and both are usually around 80-85%. If we have two cores that are continuously between 80-85% thats an overall processor utilization of 60-70% . On the other hand if you have an application that is only utilizing 80% of one core then then that would result in an overall cpu utilization of 40%. This all assumes a dual core.

So I'm curious as to why the OpenVPN server is behaving like multi threaded application.

It's probably the OS's CPU scheduler hopping the process from one CPU core to the other. I also have a feeling that pfSense will perform much better on bare metal. Question for you and the OP: have you looked at ZeroShell?

Houkouonchi uses it (via OpenVPN) to bond his FiOS connections; in his situation he's only using the tunnelling, so encryption isn't enabled.

jadams-
are you using Hyper-V's Legacy Network Adapter, or the regular one?

No. The Legacy Adapter is only good for 10/100. In my screenshots you can see I was getting basic routing at gigabit speeds. I'm using an image of pfsense that has the Hyper-V nic embedded. Its a little old, but I suspect that a newer image wouldnt result in much better performance.
