I have 2 servers at work using an Adaptec 3210S SCSI controller running a RAID5 array. Since I can't really pull them down to experiment, I figured I would ask this.

Will Ghost make a backup and restore this array? Is there a better program that will do this?

I need to have a backup of the array. I will also be doing a beta cycle for a company this summer on the servers and will need an easy way to get back to the previous version if the beta goes poorly.

Thanks,

Chris

Can you have a system outtage? I've cloned raid 5 arrays on HP DL380s before by booting up with the smart start cd, pulling a drive, putting a new one in, letting it replicate. Once the first drive is done replicating, pull a second one and put a new drive in and let it replicate. You now have 2 of the 3 drives of a raid array, as long as you use the same raid card, they should boot up in identical hardware. Then just let it replicate to the third, completeing your array. The key is, you can't have any hard drive activity when you do the replication. As long as your not in windows, you should be alright. That way none of the data is changing and you can get two of the three drives to boot up in another system.

To directly answer your question, I haven't done it myself, but someone says you may be able to infuse your array drivers onto a Ghost disk so it can see your array.
