Hey all...I'm throwing together a SFF PC for a buddy to basically house his music and upload them to his IPod. He wants to spend no more than 300 bucks - yeah, I know, he wants a whole PC for the price of his IPod, but anyways, here's what I've thrown together and now I need some input on any other possible Mobo's, cases, drives, etc...I know its a Celeron, but, I seem to be limited on the proc by the cash I have to play w/, and the fact that it has to be SFF and has to have at least 80Gb of HD space. Ok, so, ready? Go...

InWin IW-BT566T Case
ASUS P4S8X-MS
Intel Celeron D 2.53
512 PC3200 RAM
WD 80GB HD
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive

Any thoughts and or comments would be GREATLY appreciated - even bad ones. Constructive criticism is a good thing - just don't call me names. Hahaha...

If you have a Fry's in your area you might be able to snag a better HD deal if you watch the ads for a week or two.

I've had good luck with these merchants, disc will say 'Dell' or some other system builder on it, but will install normally.
 
Thanks for the info...much appreciated. I found a 160GB HD on tigerdirect.com for $30 after rebates - I hate rebates, but I'll take the gamble...

cpu $68.00
mobo $37.80
memoy x 2 $51.90
DVD burner $33.99
plus the HDD from tigerdirect ($30.00)

total: $275.19

(shipping and OS will make it a bit more)

edit: does the $300 include a monitor, or does your friend already have one?
 
Nice - I like that case. I dont know how I missed that on my last trip through Newegg. The InWin I was looking at appears to be out of stock now too...I like that setup though. Its nifty and looks fairly decent for what he wants...

He already has a monitor and what not, so the price is for the PC only.

Shave off money on that and get one stick of 512 as the 754s are not Dual channel so two sticks would be pointless.
