Some time ago I bought a BFG-made fx 5900NU, and it was clearly defective. It artifacted badly at startup, and desktop. So I decided to send it to BFG to get a replacement. First of all, it spent about 5 weeks in RMA. Partly it's my fault, I was assuming that the RMA representative I was talking to could tell the difference between "Hunt" and "Hunter". My card was shipped to 44 Hunter St, and that address didn't exist, so UPS sent it back immediately. They lost the card they were about to ship me somewhere in the warehose. I ended up calling them every day, and eventually they gave up on the card they lost, and sent me a new one. When I finally received it (today), I decided to plug it into my new computer, and see if it works, as anyone else would do. I was very happy because it turned out to be a fx 5900 Ultra, as opposed to the Non-Ultra I sent them.

I was immediately greeted by this message:

GeForce FX 5900
256Mb RAM
nVidia corporation
Blah Blah Blah... copyrighted something, driver version 47.72

Then, after a second or two, black screen. No post beeps, nothing.

I tried re-seating it, trying a different molex lead, no luck. Disconnected some devices thinking that it wasn't getting enough power, with no luck. It was Antec True480 PSU, by the way. The system is MSI K8N Neo Platinum with 3200 CG ClawHammer, and 1Gb of BH-6 Ram. The rest doesn't really matter, as those don't matter either, because it was working fine with an older MX440 card.

So, I decided plugging it into my old computer, with the exact same results.

I got pwned :(
 
Maybe they are one of those companies that replace RMA'd parts with other RMA'd parts?

With lifetime warranties on their cards they would almost have to to keep from going bankrupt..
 
But why would they send me a broken card instead of another broken card? Does it actually fix anything??

They got me a FedX card within 3 days of me shipping it to them .
I could not belive how fast they were .

You have to stick another card in your AGP slot,from a friend or
something.
Are you shure that there is not an IRQ conflict or some other HardWare
conflict .If you do get a friend to loan you a card to just get it post and are
able to use the monitor,you should do a MSinfo32.exe Microsoft Windows XP Diagnostics tool.And see if you have any hardware conflicts.

PS. I saw that happen one time with a bent pin ,from the monitor to the card.

Maybe you have a standoff shorting against the back of your mobo and it killed both cards?
