Ive been thinking about upgrading my GFX card from an AGP ATI 9700 pro to another AGP card that is 256mb. I cant make a good decision between ati and nvidia. Does anyone have any good recommendations on a new card or website where the cards are actually rated?

You need to give us a price point before we can give you suggestions. Otherwise, I might as well say, upgrade your board to PCIe and get 2x7800 GTX in SLI, but since you want AGP, X850 XT PE is top of the line.

The reason im looking to upgrade is because im looking to play games like battlefield 2 and doom 3 at a higher FPS. My price range is about $250 - $300...

Thanks Again -

I'd save that money towards a PCIe system upgrade. Yeah, it's gotta be done sooner or later. :(

If you want to stay AGP then go for a 6800GT 256MB - you've got a great chance of hitting Ultra speeds and it'll provide a great boost over your 9700Pro. I know that because my last card was a 9700Pro and I've got a 6800GT now (clocks up to 440/1.15). If you can boost your price range up a bit then an X850XT-PE would probably be a better choice though.
