gforce 6800 ultra issues

Im running what i believe is a good nvidia 6800 ultra, however any time the PC tries to do a transparency effect it seems to hang for 5-10 seconds, and also some periodic artifacting occurs in counterstrike. Im hoping its not the vid card, i am running on an nvidia chipset board with an amd 64 proc. Windows XP. Ram is testing good in memtest. Im almost positive its the card, but i thought i might pick all your brains before i give up on it.

Have you upgraded drivers or changed any peripherals recently? Any recent Windows updates or driver updates on other hardware?
