Okay, how fast or slow is this IGP chipset? What does it equal to in term of performance when comparing to the regular GF video cards? Or is it equal to AMD's 4200 series of IGP?
 
That's extremely difficult to quantify in terms of today, but it's much slower than 4250/4290 IGP chipsets.

I spent five minutes trying to write it in numbers but I gave up. It's the integrated graphics that was below entry level discrete cards like the 7300GT in mid 2007. The 9400GT used in the ION IGP and the 4200 series IGP chips are (estimating) at least 5x as fast, I wouldn't be surprised at 10x.

Take all of what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but I hope I helped.
 
How about the Intel X4500? How does it compare to the HD 4200 series? Or Nvida 6100 vs 4200? Debating on choosing a motherboard based on one of these IGPs, with 4200 a little out my of range so I'm surveying the 7025, 6100 and Intel X4500. Thanks for your input.
 
The X4500 would be by far the fastest. It has 10 shader units, and even supports DX10(for what it's worth), compared to one pipeline each for the other two options.

Are you contemplating using any of these IGPs for the purpose of gaming with them? If cost is a factor, then I understand completely, but if you can put some money toward a discrete GPU I think it would be much more appropriate for gaming. Sorry to go off topic with this suggestion, but none of the above would be adequate.
 
I won't game with this PC, just for playing DVD movies, browsing the internet and watching Youtube videos. Nothing serious. Is the X4500 comparable to a 8500GT?
 
What kind of CPU are you looking at? Depending on the CPU, you might be able to accomplish the above without any significant graphics capabilities...albeit, at increased CPU usage.
 
The X4500 is almost certainly slower than a 8500GT, but it'll be plenty for what you intend to do.

Nothing comes to mind yet...just trying to budget out the mobo with IGP at the moment.

if you arent gaming, then i highly suggest looking into the 4500HD if your going mobile. supports hardware accel and also has an HDMI out so you can use it as an HTPC if you wanted.

otherwise if your looking for a desktop something like the 780G/785g/880G are very good options with a low power processor. other option is looking at the new sandy bridge processors that just came out which have onboard video. they seem to be priced pretty well on the low end side.
 
The X4500 will suit your needs well. The only thing it does not have that AMD chipsets support is DDL! and DTS encoding in real time over optical. As long as you're aware of that limitation, it will be good for HTPC use.
