Getting two different temp readings for 6800 GT

Between the Nvidia control panel and Everest (a diag tool accurate for my CPU/HDD temps, voltages etc). Nvidia control panel is almost always 10c higher than what Everest is telling me. Under load using the Rthdribl Demo (aka the GPU BBQ) the Nvidia Control panel says its up to 88c. Yikes. But Everest says its a bit more sane at 76c. Not sure what to make of this, they're both accessing the same sensor for their information right. Anyone have an idea which is probably the more reliable?
 
So which one do you go with? To add to the debate going on in my system SpeedFan agrees with Everest, while RivaTuner agrees with the Nvidia Cpl.
 
i got the same problem...although not as drastic...my everest reads 52 degrees while the control panel reads 58 degrees
 
could be your drivers. anything before 71.89 reports temps around 10% higher than they actually are.
 
Im using 71.89, and I know about the temp bug on 71.84. I had crazy shit like 62c idle in the Nvid Cpl with 71.84.

This is a different issue, and its not driver related as far as I can tell. I have two programs telling me the sensor is reading one value, and two other programs telling me its exactly 10c higher in pretty much every situation.
