I am looking at finally doing some overclocking and was trying to find a basic guide with some information like what methods are best, what temps to go by (core vs CPU), etc. I didn't see a sticky so I was hoping someone could link me to a good post or other resource to get me started. I put my cpu-id info below in case anyone has any suggestions. The motherboard is an Abit IP-35E.

I recommend realtemp to monitor the temp of your cores....the BIOS cpu temp only shows an average which isn't very accurate. I believe the Intel Specs page says the B3 revision q6600's (the one that I have) has a max stable temp of 65C while the newer revision can handle up to 72C.
