Finally got the hardware I wanted for overclocking.

Abit IC7 Max III mobo (with most current BIOS, as original BIOS got flaky when I upgraded)
P4 3.0E (1 MB cache) with stock heatsink
4 x 512 MB Corsair (CMX512-3200C2, 2.5-3-3-6, two matched pairs)
ATI X850 Pro

I've pushed the CPU up to about 3.3 without problems, but I'm hesitant to do much without having specific goals in mind. I'd like to see it around 3.6, I'm told that's a common OC for this CPU.

You have a pretty good setup, quite similar to mine. You can probably reach 3.6GHz with a bit more voltage, but watch out or your RAM, it may limit your oc.

Invest in a Zalman CNPS-7xxx cooler, it will help.

With stock voltage, the stock cooler should handle 3.4ish. Raise the latency on your ram to 3-4-4-8 to get extra speed out of it.

Get a better HSF, that Intel HSF will probably be alot louder if you overclock some more, my old intel HSF would be over 5k rpm and stupidly loud, i picked up another HSF that never goes over 2800rpm and keeps the temps a bit lower.
