I have a older WD Raptor (36GB) in my current machine, along with a 320GB Seagate SATA 7200 RPM. Seems to be decent but I felt like I needed more space.

Along with my other purchases, I grabbed a WD Black 640GB.

Should I keep my Raptor for a boot drive, or should I retire it?

Rest of the system is a Gigabyte MA790X UDP4, AMD Phenom X2 550 BE, 4GB G.SKILL, and a GTX260 Core 216.

Retire the raptor. You'll enjoy the silence, and likely even higher speed, of the WD Black 640. On the other hand, if you want insane performance on your boot drive, and you can afford to spend $100-200 more, you could pick up an OCZ Vertex 60GB or Intel X25-M 80GB SSD and watch your system fly.

A SSD is planned for the future, but at the moment, Gonna run what I have. Thanks for the input!
