Getting partitions back

I just reinstalled winXP on my 80gig drive, it was partitioned into 4 drives. Now I only have acess to the new partition and the extended partitions, my question is, how do I get the other 2 primary partitions back? It sees them as ntfs and their old names, but it won't let me assign them a letter. (see screenshot below)

It didn't work :( I think the problem is that it doesn't know what kind of partitons they are, because it sees there old names, types, and sizes. It just doesn't know if they are primary or extended

OK well that would indicate they where basic disks
I have an immediate solution if its actually a partition issue but it costs
Disk Patch
it will recover or rebuild partition tables from scratch ($40) and alot more

Repair using freeware is possible but problematic without the original parameters
Partition Table Reference
or it could be as simple as a corrupted partition ID

but the thing is they are being recognized and reported correctly
(Filesystem and Size) and are being assigned drive letters
so I keep coming back to some permissions issue

they werent encrypted?

I can't assign them drive letters, that is the problem

They wern't encrypted as far as i'm aware

One program I have used is getdataback, you can download it here

You can download a trial off their website, and it will do it's thing and tell you if it can recover data, and if so then you can buy it. Works great, saved me from a power outage during partition magic (which BTW they should rename to Partition Rape)

Yes, getback is data recovery but since he can't mount those partitions, he's probably going to have to recover the data from them.
