Hi I just fried my computer today so I need a quick replacement.

Here is a link to the computer I think i'm going to buy. It seems ok to me, I can't tell what motherboard it has so that is a bit worrying. I'm going to be putting in a 8800gts and a xfi soundcard, also another harddrive and a nice power supply.

Would there be any conflictions that you know of ? Or another better (canadian ) deal out there? Time is of the essence for getting this comp as I work from my computer, but also want to use it for gaming, so I must buy it within the next day.
 
What local computer stores do you have in your area? What size monitor do you have? That X2 5000+ cpu is pretty slow these days that it will be a bottleneck if you plan to put in a higher end video card. You should get this Gateway DX4710 Desktop instead. Cost more, but worth it over that Acer X2 5000+ desktop.
 
well there are a few stores near but that was the best price I could find. I'm putting in a nvidia 8800gts 320mb card. I don't think the x2 5000 would bottle neck it? But I'm unsure, I can't see myself spending 250$ more just to get a slighty faster cpu as per your suggestion.
 
I have a 22inch monitor soon to add a 19inch crt along side it. I like to play red alert 3, cod 5, nfs undercover ect..

Do you think those components are compatible? Iam worried if there would be some problems with my soundcard or gfx card mixing it in with that computer.

What did you fry in your current computer? and what are the specs of your current computer? Is there nothing else you can salvage from it? Did you properly test everything? I'm just making sure, since you seem like you don't want to waste money.
 
The components will be compatible. BUT, don't get the 8800GTS 320MB card. That's old already.
 
Well I think a south bridge chip of my asus a8n-e mobo fried. I tried everything, my techy friend helped too. I know I could just replace the mobo but thats almost as much work as getting a new comp. My current comp (dead) is asus a8n-e, atholon xp 3000+ 1 gig ram, 8800 gts

dam old already i just bought it like 8 months ago, anyways Its a part iam salvaging from my current dead computer, along with my xfi music soundcard, ocz powersupply, and a harddrive. Maybe the ram to I have 2 512mb ddr2 sticks in there.
 
Whoops, hehe i didn't realize you're putting that 8800gts 320mb vide card from your other computer.

Do you think if i add my 8800 gts to that computer i want to buy (link in op) will I have a pretty high end system? Enough to handle cod5 on high ect..
 
The 320MB 8800GTS is inferior to the 8800GT. (Then again, the 8800GT does have a better, more efficient GPU.)

If nothing else, you should be looking for a new video card -- especially since you're planning on getting a second monitor.
