Getting new comp...any input?

Im putting together my first new system (I have had plenty of hand-me-downs :p ) and was wondering what you guys thought of this setup:

Yea, a MOD should fix this in no time.

As for your computer, looks like it will be a nice fast one! Enjoy it. I'm not sure of any incompadibilities, as I have never used that hardware.

With that heat sink and AS5, you should get some nice low temps especially because its an AMD64.

Also, have you asked around about those Zalman headphones in the computer audio section or do you have any personal experience with them? I wonder how they compare to a Sennheiser HD497's.

The only thing that I don't like, is the case. It's not my style, I would go with something diffrent in that price range, like a Lian Li 65. If you like it though, that's all that should matter to you.

towert7, I have a friend who bought them and suggested them to me...he couldn't stop bragging about how good they were, I can get back to ya in about 3 weeks and give my personal experience with them (need another paycheck to finish it all :p )
 
What russ said about the other cooling solution is fine too. I have seen nothing but happy people with both setups.

I personally have an XP90, AS5, and the fan he recommended, a panasonic panaflow 92mm. Its good! The comp in my sig runs 100% load at 34ºC-39ºC. (depends on the ambient temp)
 
I don't think you need a "better" CPU cooler. This processor runs very very cool (under 40C) with stock HS + fan.

How about upgrading your floppy drive to floppy/card reader combo? It'll be another $10-12 extra.

I don't like your PSU selection. Pick another one. I use a CoolMax in mine.
 
Ok, because it seems like my PSU choice was a bad one (looked in the PSU forum and I think it is on the "dont get these" list") I was lookin at the mid-high end PSU's HERE (about 1/3 of the way down the page) can anyone reccomend one of these? It would be nice to get one of the high-end ones, but im cutting it VERY close to my budget, was gunna keep my old comp for file storage but looks like im going to have to sell it to get the extra cash.
 
Well...changed my video card from whats posted to the deal HERE (the Radeon X850 XT Platinum PCIE )

still need to decide on a PSU and some good RAM, hopefully I can find both for about $250 :rolleyes:
 
I am currently using 3 CoolMax PSU's and they all work very good. Note: I am not an overclocker. I don't know why this brand is in don't buy list in here.

Pick one with high +12V rating such as this . I am using this in a system of Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB DDR400 Dual channel, one 160GB HDD, Radeon X300 256MB video, and Foxconn NF4UK8AA motherboard. Another one (400W) in a Pentium 4 (540), Asus P5GDC Deluxe, 1GB Dual channel, Radeon X300, etc.
