If this isn't in the right topic please move it. Thx

I have this problem where I get about less than 100fps in Cod2 instead of my normal 200fps. I had changed drivers for my video card and each time I reinstalled the driver I got my 200fps again. Until reinstalling the driver didnt work so I reformatted my HD, then everything was smooth again for about a week and the problem came back again. I run ATITool and I show that cube and its showing 200fps + average. This happens on all of my games - Cod1, Cod2, Cod4, CSS

I had just rebuilt my comp and it was working fine for about 2 weeks before the problem happened the first time.
I also ran speedfan and all my temps are normal.

Specs:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
1534MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
MoBo: P4M80P
PSU: 350 Watt ~18.0A 12 volt

Yea it defiantly is... Toujane i get about 200 constant. Carentan i get about 125-150 outside and 200+ inside. If I can get this fixed and you don't believe me I can send you a ss if you really want...besides the point, I need help fixing this problem.

not to say you aren't having a problem, but can you really see/feel a difference when gaming @ 125-150 fps compared to 200+? assuming you are running @ 1280x800 resolution and I'm almost 100% sure your refresh rate is maxed @ 60hz, I can't see how you can tell a difference other than maybe using FRAPS

Yes there is a difference between 200fps and less than 100 which is what im getting now. With 200fps I can shoot semi guns alot faster and its smoother. Another thing i noticed is that the choke doesn't stay at 1 or 0 like it did before. It goes to 2,3 or 4 sometimes.

This problem also reduces my fps to about 30 in cod4, which makes it almost unplayable.

Im playing at 1024 x 800 with 60Hz. I can go up to like 80Hz i think.

since you mentioned choke, so you are playing online b/c your connection can affect your fps as well.

Choke is not affected by FPS. Choke is your internet connection failing to keep up with the game. I guess choke could lower your FPS...

That said, you cannot see a different between 200FPS and 100FPS - it is impossible for it to be smoother for the very simple reason that you only get 60fps in the end. I also highly doubt that you can click more than 20 times a second, much less 100+ (the game wouldn't even let you shoot a semi that fast anyway), so the extra FPS won't let you shoot a semi any faster either.

As for CoD4, lower the graphic settings a bit. The FPS you are getting sound in line with a 7600GS

I still get choke in SP for cod4. . And having more fps does let you shoot so much faster.. I don't think you play and first person shooter games.

Can someone tell me how to fix this and stop talking bs around what fps does... I know 200fps>100fps.

For some odd reason its back to normal now... lol Think I fixed it by changing refresh rates
I can show that guy my 200 fps if he wants..

Problem oddly solved

I don't see how that is possible. You don't go over the network in SP, therefore there can't be any choke.

I play plenty. I promise you you can't shoot any faster with more FPS unless you can click that fast (input checking is usually done once per frame). Since you can't click more than 20 times a second (and the game won't let you fire that fast anyways), having more than 100fps is pointless.

200fps > 100fps only if your benchmarking.

I would like to see fraps results myself.
