i just got a ati 9800 pro 128 card and want to dual display. I have ultramon installed and i got it to dual display, but i can not get any games to dual display. Hopefully someone can inform me

Are you talking about dual displaying ONE game? If so, I don't think that is possible. You would need one hell of a video card to pull that off.

Now dual displaying two games, one on each monitor, that is probably possible.

i know some games like cs i can duplicate the image on two screens and games like battle field 2 you can put the fps on one monitor and a giant map on the other

I used to play Doom3 on one monitor, and use S-Video to hook up to a second TV, and that mirrored pretty well on my ATI 9000 AIW and my 9600xt.

Under Windows at least, you need a speical card like this Matrox one to run one game on multiple screens in 3D (three monitors in that case).

Not sure about under Linux, but I get the impression that the latest NVidia drivers support 3D accelerated spanning (making multiple monitors look to apps as one big screen). I don't have room for another monitor right now, otherwise I'd play with the new drivers and see.
