Getting DDL to work in HL2

I just built a media pc with my old A7N8X Delux and wanted to get the soundstorm to put out 5.1 channel sound in DDL. I have no problem with the speaker setup, but I cannot get it to work at all in HL2. I choose 5.1 and everything is in stereo. Anyone have a similar issure. I've tried everything I can think of.
 
nevermind, after 3 hours of tinkering I found out my emulated ReplayAudio soundcard took over the primary soundcard spot so everything was being played through that.
