Getting a Little Sideways Mod

I wanted to applaud your work, but the other thread was closed. So, I'll do it here. :)

I have the same case myself, except in metallic green. It sits on the left side of my desk, but it is cumbersome there. I didn't put it on the the right, for the exact same reason as you. But now, I might just copycat you and do this myself, because it's not only practical, but as you say it "shows off the pretties" better! :D

Honestly I dont think it looks good at all. I dont see the point and the effort to turn the drives seems wasted. The final look isnt a very finished look. Like it is missing the door, or the top plastic edge should have been removed. Just my opinion but if you like it, then that is all that matters... Kudos on modding it though if that is what you wanted.

I'll admit it does look a bit kludgy in some of the pics. It looks better in person. I think it tuned out quite well for what I had to work with. I really didn't want to spend too much time totally reworking the bezel or fabbing something from scratch. Really it was just an experiment that tuned out great IMHO. It is really functional and makes my PC much easier to use and look at.

It's very functional, I think you've got something there. I always wondered why nobody made a case like that in the first place. I would buy one.

When I saw the picture on the front page, looking at it gave me a headache. I think it looks good.

I could see where this could be nice, like putting the machine behind a LCD monitor. This way you can still reach the drives, instead of having to bend around the monitor.

Nice job.

very cool mod, props on being able to weld aluminum, i know that isnt easy

Dont get me wrong in my statement. I meant no offense at all, just stating my honest first impression. I can see how it would be functionally better for you. The majority of users wouldnt want this design though is my guess...

Now, what would put some more pop in this would be a flat panel mounted where the drives would have been and therefore protected by the door (very functional). Some plastic molding might finish up the edges you can see through on the outer edge of the drive bay area. Just a thought. But otherwise, I guess it works...

very nice mod. as stated before it could use some cleaning up, but I definately see the use for it.

GJ, and keep modding

I'm surprised nobody noticed socket 478 with Pci-e. These pups are really hard to find now.

It's kinda hard to tell what socket type it is from those pics with that waterblock ontop of it.

well I really like the overall idea. I was thinking about this exact mod a while back with my lianli pc65. i believe in fact you will see cases for sale soon with a very similar setup. It is great for clear side panels and those with neon/cathodes. Good job!
