Getting A+ Certified.....

well i have a bunch of certs (check my sig) and i can assure you i know what i'm doing. however, some people i went to college with were complete idiots...they would use Kazaa and wonder how they got a virus, spyware, etc. they didn't know what a motherboard was, didn't even HEAR of AMD...it pissed me off, i was IN school with a bunch of idiots....in fact, my teacher was the only intellegent one in there...he taught me a lot of the "obscure" stuff i know now.

he also told me that just certs won't get me anywhere, i will still need experience...he was right.

My advice, read the books. Mike Myers has a good book. So is the Upgrading and Repair PCs book. The big one on the 20th printing or something. By Mueller I think. Then, use the knowledge. Experiment, make the knowledge stick and own the knowledge. Don't just read and move on.

So what exact books would you guys recommend for a hardware enthusiast? I need to get a few books to read to pass the time because alot of my classes are boring as hell for the moment because they are starting from the ground up because some of these people trying to get a degree in majors like networking and engineering and so forth have absolutely no business even trying.

I've been doing quite a bit of custom building for people and i need to get more into the repair and diagnostics part so i can be better at troubleshooting issues. All of that will be covered later on in my course studies but im just flat out bored at the moment with the stupid electives i have to take along with the remedial computer coarses.
