ooh I could use that money.... too bad the people who will win are the people who don't need money :p
 
you forgot LN2 as well.. who ever said the winners aren't the ones that need the $ is correct. Not that this is anything new. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer

Yep, and it's not even that LN2 is expensive. It is that most people aren't willing to risk ruining that much hardware trying to achieve a record oc. Oh well... maybe I'll get a monster E2160 when I order my rig :cool:

Yer right, it looks like they are basing the scores an a 3DMark result.
This competition is for Quads only.
 
My DS3R and Q6600 overclocks handsomely to 3.4GHz with only a bit of a temperature jump. I could go all in for this (haha, borrow a friends GTX or something) but I really don't feel like risking my hardware by pushing it father than I already have. I'd have to take grand prize or something to make it worth it, and I just don't have the cooling to accomplish that.

As someone stated earlier, the people that have the most money to blow on a project like this are going to be the ones to win in the end. I don't think I've got a chance.
 
The only way I would buy another Gigabyte board is if they paid me...so this seems about right..:)

Worst competition in history. Use monster setups and get the same thing or less as a prize. Lets make a competition for billionaires. The person that earns the most money in the US this year gets a million dollars and a crappy t-shirt.
 
Lol, Liquid nitrogen isn't that expensive. At least not where I am, you can get it pretty cheap around my parts. It's just making the blocks to hold the Liquid nitrogen that might cost ya some.(Not sure if you could use a typical liquid cooling system)

I think people will be coming out with more crazy cooling solutions then phase change :p
 
check their scores (about 6 ppl posted their scores) and their set up

air cooling is ahead water cooling

so stop whining and post your results if you got the right mobo... I'm sure you can easily win (I'm thinking to buy the mobo from frys submit my results and return after )
 
I'm assuming that anyone who is serious about this is going to use the next month to squeak every little bit out of their system, so the lack of people at this point means nothing imho.
