Get hyped

Meh another Sony 'pro' display. Probably priced something like $20,000 or $30,000.
Expect poor oled lifespan, it's destined to be used-to-death-and-thrashed-quickly by rich broadcast/cinema/industrial companies.
 
You're not going to see cynicism from me. This is a great sign.

It's the right form factor, resolution, everything.

Yeah, it's not going to be available for consumers, but the fact that it is even being made in those areas is awesome. 4K monitors fell in price from 3000 dollars to 500 within a year. Let's say it costs 10K. Give it 2-3 years and it'll be at 1K.
 
Those OLED monitors have been out for years at very high prices with no sign of consumer versions. (not the 4k ones but 1080p)

Give it another 5 years and we MIGHT see something similar at remotely affordable prices...

Broadcast / heavy duty equipment is supposed to be able to handle long sessions in harsh environments (it can get pretty hot inside a studio/lab when dozens of stacked machines are running!)
 
theyve had oled monitors sold to this market for years now, a lot of hospitals and shit use them. they're 10s of thousands of dollars. Nothing to do with the consumer market
