This is an engineering sample Tualatin P3-S 1333mhz. I ran a search on wikipedia and it seems that this speed chip was never released to the public.

* Pentium III (256 KB L2-Cache): 1000, 1133, 1200, 1333 MHz
* Pentium III-S (512 KB L2-Cache): 1133, 1266, 1400 Mhz

It has 512k of cache, and I recieved it from a client because it kept resetting on them. They told me their dad was friends with someone from Intel who gave it to him. I looked it up on ebay but I couldnt find anything like it. Does anybody know what its worth?

yes. It's happened to members of this forum. Do a search and you can probably find a couple threads. Don't sell it on ebay. Stick to FS/FT forums.
 
Worth? Not much, it's still just a PIII. And it's probably not really a 1333, but an overclocked 1.13 or 1.26GHz. That's probably why it was "resetting", crashing would be more accurate.

BTW, that's an internal sample chip, an extreme no-no for someone to take out of Intel. I've got one marked just like that, bought off ebay back when Tualatins were just showing up.

Myself, I'm more interested in the board. Any markings on that one? Looking to sell? Let me know.
 
Its definately not overclocked, for sure. The intel board detects it like that, and the temp is under 40c. The power supply was causing the crashes.

Board is for sale.
 
Cool, never knew there were actual 1.33GHz chips out there. I know the desktop(256KB) version never made it to production.

cant be OCed - tualatins had the MHz in the OPN string - and his says 1333

i call dibs. YHPM.

If this was a brand new dual core that wasn't out to market yet, then yeah I would be hesitant to offer to sell it. Otherwise, it is old enough now that I am not afraid.

Intel will get ebay to shut down the auction,and they will demand the CPU back. they do it all the time, reguardless of how old hte chip is.

If they do I will ask for a non engineering version, and they will probably just give me a newer processor since these aren't made anymore. Win/win :)
 
id bet they give you a 1.4-s, actually... its not like they dont have those sitting around anymore :p

Its not snuck out... it was given to someone, who gave it to him b/c it was acting up or faulty. Probably just a bad PSU or dusty case/psu/heatsink.

Intel gives out development hardware, etc to people all the time. Noone "snuck it out"

Anyway, I doubt intel cares about this CPU. It doesn't even have an unlocked multiplier = sucky ES. :( Nor does its CPU string say ES in it.
 
Well, I'm bidding on it now so hope intel doesnt shut it down. This will go nicely with the rest of my ES chips. :D

Just did a quick search in the admin panel and we do have a number of members here who registered using @intel.com addys. ;)
 
Well, that's ok. I am not going to jail no matter what. If they close the bid and want it back for some silly reason, they will get their precious CPU/mobo back. Otherwise, I have college tuition to pay.
 
So you have a shitty 815 reference board that will, depending on the stepping, probably run like shit. Seriously.... toss it in the trash, it's basically worthless. Here is how CRBs are regarded at Intel. FYI, you are looking at a 945 CRB..... :D

I don't think the value of this processor/mobo combo is in its performance.... oh and hey don't damage perfectly good hardware! I just gave some poor friends of mine a 900 P3 because they couldn't afford anything else.

Actually the 1.33Ghz Tualatins were released. It was the copermine 1.13GHz that were sent out to reviewers and I think a few OEMs, and then Intel caught some kind of errata and recalled them...then never re-released the chip. That was Intel's attempt at topping AMD after they achieved 1GHz first. Ahh, the memories... :D

no it wasnt, not the tualatin-s

i have a coppermine 1.33/266 sitting in my closet right now...wish i had a board to throw it in...

i did however find a board to put my old Tbird 1.33/266 in, overclocked it to 285fsb and left it alone.. pretty stout little machine actually for as old as it is.. it suprises me sometimes..
