Here is what I am bringing am I missing anything?

Canon 40D
Nikon S500 P&S
17-55 2.8IS
70-200 F4L IS
50mm 1.8
430EX Flash
2X4GB CF Cards
1X1GB backup card (CF)
Rocket Blower/Lens Pen
DLP700 GPS Logger
My Dell 1525 Notebook for blogging and uploading pictures (free WiFi in the hotels).
Rechargeable Batteries (AA's) for Flash and GPS logger + Charger
Power Cable's, USB cables etc.

MIGHT (Huge Might) get a tripod in German as Gitzo is cheaper there.

How long are you traveling? CF is pretty cheap, you could pick up an couple extra 4GB cards just in case you have laptop problems

If you are shooting RAW, bring a few more CF cards. An 8GB is around $22 on Newegg now.

I agree, I would pick up a 8GB card. Also why are you bringing your 50mm 1.8. 1.8 will be great with lowlight, but your 17-55 f/2.8 IS would be better due to the IS. I actually think your 17-55 will be on your camera 85% of the time.

^^ have to agree with Dark... With the 17-55 the nifty is almost pointless. Also dont forget to bring a couple extra batteries and an extra charger for your 40D. Remember they have a different power plug too so you will need to make sure you have the right adapter.

The 50mm sticks in my bag all the time, never thought to take it out. It's pretty light. As for CF cards, etc, unfortantly I leave Friday, and the price here in Ottawa is ass (4GB is going for $85). I will be uploading all my photo's to Flickr each night however (pro-account).

I might get a card over there if it's cheap. Have to see.

I know its already too late but in case you happen to read this in Germany I just want to mention that if you do buy a Gitzo while you're there, hold off on the ballhead until you get back so you can get a good one from RRS, Kirk or Markins

Didn't find any Gitzo in the time I had to look. I did however check online and they are more expensive with the conversion, and the duty I'd have to pay (it would put me over my 750).

I'll get one here in the next year or so.
