Hello...

sempron 2600+ 1.60ghz
corsair 400mhz cl:2.5
max HTT 800mhz
due to mobo bios problem... my ram is reading at 333mhz. the latest bios dun solve the problem.

i will like to know if i set my cpu to 230X7=1610
ram to 166+30=190x2=380
htt=3x230=690

will my cpu get hot??? do i need any voltage setting? do i need a big heatsink for the cpu???
will the system be unstable???
any performance difference???
thank

Adding an extra 30% FSB will equal about a 15% performance boost for the machine as a whole. Your processor will get warmer, but since your ram will be within the spec. speed, you dont need to worry about stability (assuming your processor doesn't hit a wall until at least 250fsb). Just check your before and after temperatures using a program like SpeedFan... Worst comes to worst, just un-overclock it if they get near the 55-60c mark.

Also, just a question, the mobo reading DDR400 ram as DDR333 can be caused by the 5:6 memory divider. This divider was the default setting on my old Asrock board, there's a possibility you just need to find the words DDRxxx or a memory ratio x:y and change them to DDR400 or 1:1 (respectively).

You still have room for at least a 10-20mhz overclock on the FSB (assuming you correct the divider setting), pushing the ram to DDR420-440 speeds (and an extra 80-160mhz to the total CPU speed), without dropping the multiplier from 8x to 7x (not necessary until you start pushing your board into the 250FSB+ range).

Large HSF's arn't really needed until you start overclocking your processor to 120% of their stock speed (so closer to 2ghz for you).

Hope that helps, hit this thread back if you need anything else.
