Hey guys,

I was just wanting to check what the overall consensus is about alphacool. I am trying to see what set-ups to get into. What is the top German cooling company right now? I was also wondering if there is a number one US WC manufacturer.

Alphacool makes some pretty good stuff. They actually do a good job of pairing their equipment to other gear which complements it well for optimum performance, something other German watercooling companies haven't done very well in the past. All in all, if you are simply looking for watercooling for the cooling properties Alphacool is definitely one of your top choices, and they are more reasonably priced than their competitors in Germany.

The top US company has to go to either Swiftech or DD. Swiftech probably has the edge would be my guess but DD has managed to get their stuff into a national retail chain (MicroCenter).

I like Alphacool. their blocks are very well made, provide excellent performance, and at a very fair price.

As for Top German WC company, it'd have to be between Aqua Computer, Innovatek, and Alphacool. I'm not a big fan of the way innovatek "borrows" lots of designs from Aqua Computer, while still having them more expensive. Aqua computer is one of those companies which isn't that big, but their work is almost always top notch in both looks, performance, and design.

As for US, It'd be Dangerden or Swiftech.

My rig has the alphacool nexxos XP :) Great block for both low AND high flow. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody.
 
alphacool Laing DCC-plus with plexi top and res is a really good pump and I ahve their DFI chipset water block and a small res. I like their stuff its like inovatek and aquacomputer.
 
Alphacool has a couple modded DDC pumps that are really nice. The ultra has ~20ft of head according to multiple tests done over at XS. But the ones with the water tanks aren't so good. Cool idea, but it ends up being worse bleeding than a T-line, and will still pump through air. Their Nexxxos XP blocks are nice too. AquaExtreme has some nice stuff too, but Swiftech and DangerDen are always a pretty safe bet.

I use the plexi NexXxos XP Lite and have used their GPX on my video card.
 
I'm getting ready to put an alphacool setup together...

1 "t-line" snagged from work out of a box of metric vacuum fittings (running 8x10mm hose)


The quality of everything is fantasic, the CPU block in particular is nice to look at... and very well finished.

I'm going to mount the rad to the back of my case with a Swiftech radbox. I'll probably add a GPU cooler in the near future (AC Twinplex Pro), though my x800xl runs fairly cool already.

Pic to follow after I get everything together, possibly tonight or tomorrow.

Their Cape Cora radiator is going onto the side of my case come my birthday... Their blocks are topnotch and they make some pretty interesting items.
 
i wanna find a rig that has one of those "repack" 5.25 bay resevoirs w/ clear plexi...
can't find one anywhere to see what it looks like...
 
Mr Sneis what motherboard do you have hooked up in the pic above? Is it a DFI?
Where do you go to get your northbridge block from?

I do believe the board in that pic is made by DFI... Nothing I've owned of Asus had yellow and orange PCI/Ram slots :).

Finally got things set up...

Pros:

Didn't fry my rig

8-10c reduction in load temps, from an SP-97 no less

Overclocks further with less voltage than before :cool:

Pump is much more quiet than I anticipated


Cons:

Bleeding with a t-line takes at least a few hours

Alphacool tec-protect tastes like azz :eek:



So far I'm pretty impressed. Idle temps aren't far off from before, but there's only a couple of degree increase at full load which is a HUGE difference.
