Hey I am upgrading my computer with all new parts except the video card, I have a GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb DDR made by Aopen.
I want to know if this video card will holdup in new FPS games, will I be able to rely on this card?

*I am willing to OC it..although I havent yet because all I play right now is CS and it does fine

edit: Will it be able to hold up to HL2?

i have a evga geforce4 ti4200 64mb i did oc it but i oc'd it back for the no need to oc it i had a 2.66 and 1gb pc3200 and it rans fine

The card is OK for now, but when Doom3 and HL2 come around, it will be brought to its knees. Games like Halo would already make you consider a newer card. If you can wait, a new generation of cards will (should) be out before either of these games.

D3 and HL2 obviously will be able to crunch the card quite nicely, but should play well nonetheless.
The target card is DX8 compatible, that's not even the requirement, doesn't seem like a Ti4200 would be too low...

Overclock your 4200 with Coolbits. It should be able to handle the new games.

it depends on what you want to compromise on.. since it's a DX8 card, you will be missing out on better visual effects that are for DX9 only... beyond that, just from a speed stand point, you will probably be forced to use 1024x768, or possibly 800x600, with low detail...

I have one myself, and it's been showing it's age for awhile.. If you want somewhat decent visuals, and playable framerates, I'd probably wait for the next gen cards, and get a current DX9 card for cheap...
