GeForce2 Fan Replacement

Hey folks, a friend of mine referred me here.

I have an nVIDIA GF256 GTS Graphics Accelerator card (an antique, I know) and the fan has been buzzing extremely loudly. It started out as a quiet thrum, but now it's really obnoxious and disruptive.

I went to the website of eXcaliberPC, nVIDIA's authorized distributor, but, naturally, they don't carry the parts to this discontinued product.

Can anyone tell me A) How to fix the fan, B) How to measure the fan so I can replace it with a generic one, C) Where I can find a place that carries old fans, or D) that I'm screwed and should just cough up the money for a new card?

If I should get a new card, well, I don't play too many new games, and my GeForce2 has worked with stuff as recent as Warcraft III. Can anyone suggest a cheap video card that's similar to the GeForce2? I'm pleased with its performance, but the fan is driving me out of my mind.

Thanks, guys!

I didn't even know that the geforce 2 had active cooling on em. If you want something really cheap to replace it (since you don't sound too into high demand games like FPS and the like.) I'd just look into another similar geforce. I personally don't like any of ATis cards because of their drivers, especially if you don't need something like a 9800XT

hmm in this case i would just junk the card, you dont NEED a new one, but rather than put money into something, imo that money would be better spent put towards a new card.

I agree. Unless you're sure that you'll keep the card for 6 months or so, it's probably not worth putting money into it. My geforce 3's fan is just about dead, but instead of buying a new cooler for it, I've just decided to get a new video card when the nv40 comes out.
