Geforce Go 8 series

I have read posts with people talking like the 8600,8400 and 8300 will be released with Santa Rosa, but the 8800 will be delayed until next year when nvidia moves to a 65nm process or such. I am personally hoping there will be an 8600 ultra go that would find its way into 15.4" or 14" notebooks and would perform greater than the 7800gtx go I have now so I could upgrade.

I'm going to buy a 1705 as well through my company, but I don't really plan on buying one with a 8 series, but I was hoping that might drop the price on the 7 series or something, they may offer a cheaper option then.

This is why I'm holding off on buying a new laptop, I'm waiting for an 8 series with DirectX 10.

Last time I bought a laptop I jumped on a deal from Dell, and a month later Dual Cores came out.

No matter when you buy, something will come out within a year to make it obsolete.

I'm likely going to wait for the 8 series to come out but for a different reason. I want to get current stuff at a cheaper price.

If we were smart, we'd buy and then not touch any tech sites for six months...

It's the nature of the industry. By the time it makes it to our sweaty paws, it's obsolete.

Of course, but I would have that year to enjoy it and not silently kick myself for jumping the gun (a dual core would've really helped my CAD work)

I think the best solution is to simply never buy anything. Because the "next" one will always be better. It's perpetual.

I am loving my E1705.

im waiting for the new latop gpus to come out ;/

i just wish i knew when they where comming out!!

I received my e1705 this past tuesday and don't regret buying it. Overall I am happy with the performance. It is powerful enough for my purposes (mapinfo, data entry, video conversion and light gaming).

I don't need an 8 series card on a laptop. 7900 go is definitely good enough to play my current game selection (HL2, Far Cry, BF2142, Madden 07). If I was looking for a desktop replacement though, I would have waited for the santa rosa and 8 series.
