GeForce FX5700 LE Install Issue

Greetings,

I'm trying to help my friend upgrade his PC with a new FX5700 LE card from PNY. After installing new card and drivers and rebooting the PC, it seems to boot normally although there is a small delay finishing loading programs in the system tray that didn't happen before. But if I try to open any programs or do much of anything the monitor will go black and the system seems to be locked up. It's like the video card just decided to turn itself off because the monitor goes into power save mode. If I unload the drivers everything works fine in 640x480x16 colors.

The specs are Windows ME (I know, not my choice), AOpen MK33 mother board which has a AGP 4x slot, 256 MB ram, Althlon 1000Mhz CPU.

I've used the latest Nvidia drivers 66.93. Even tried the drivers from the cd that came with the board.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks.

i had the same problem and it was the powersupply. if he has such an old pc maybe it cant keep up with an fx. i say try the video card in your comp, and you will see.
