So its not the latest and greatest, but doesn't anyone here have this card? Are you all spending $350.00 (and up) for vid cards?

I'm curious as to the doom3 performance others are seeing with this card.

I'm seeing about 30 fps in timedemo 1 (High Quality -- 1024 x 768). P4 2.6 (1GB RAM).

hmm... that sounds about right. i was getting similar performance from my PCX 5900 (just a PCI-Express 5900) with a 3.4 prescott. Try the video cache tweak: I'm pulling 60fps on 1024x768, high quality right now because of it , and i still can't believe it.

Edit: not 60fps timedemo. i haven't run one of those yet. i mean just walking around in game, etc. fighting does slow it down a bit from that, but i haven't had the leisure to look up and check my fps in the middle of fights, yet ;)

i get 60 fps most of the time in game and 24-32 fps at lowest while fighting with 8x af high quality and 1280x1024 oh yea my 5950 is really a modded 5900 NU so its 128 mb vid
im going to get a zm80d-hp and then overclock it til it crys, also selling my 2800 to get a 2600m and overclock that til its about 2.5 or 2.7 ghtz
with some luck that synergy will increase fps
maybe even a volt mod

wow milling

that video cache tweak helps a ton

Running 1024 768 High settings with 2 aa and its smooth as heck on my 5900 xt

I have a 5900 xt. im interested in this video cache tweak could someone tell me how it is done.

Thanks

Yes, exactly. Please, EVERYONE, stop posting with 60fps during walking around in game. Or, it "feels" real smooth in game play. Everyone gets that. The only way to validly compare hardware is to run timedemo demo1. Then report back with:

1. cpu
2. ram
3. video card make/model
4. vid drivers used (default settings or not)
5. game settings (including resolution and any changes from defaults).
6. any overclocking of vid card or cpu.
7. timedemo demo 1 results (on 2nd or 3rd run).

I need to clarify my intial post. I have a:

1. P4 2.6 ghz cpu
1. 1 gb ddr ram (800 mhz FSB)
3. MSI GeForce FX 5900 xt (overclocked to 425/763, from stock or 390/700)
4. Nvidia 61.77 drivers (default settings).
5. 1024 x 768 (high quality) -- all settings default (i.e, vsynch off, no AA, AF 8x).

My timedemo results are: 38.6 fps (800 x 600 high quality = 50.1 fps).

Is it these commands:
set image_use cache
set image_cacheMegs
set image_cacheMink.....

what are your settings if this is so.......
see my rig in my sig.

dump the 5900xt and get 6800...at least an nu

Its absurd to spend that much on a video card. I've never spent more than $200 on a vid card in my life.

6800s are too noisy too.
