Ever since I've got this card, it has given me nothing but problems. First I was trying to play a music video and the colors where all weird. The reds and greens where really dominant, and the blues where almost nowhere to be found. Now I can't even play DVD's. I tried loading the 61.76 drivers and now my screen will jiggle a bit at random and every once in a while a black line will appear and disappear. Also, there will be little white dots that pop up out of nowhere and then disappear quicly after...What could be wrong here. Is it the card? Is there some configuration on nvidia cards that make them act normal or something? I've tried taking it out and re-setting it and no dice...I've tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers...no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I did...still didn't work. I also clocked it back to stock and it didn't work...It didn't work straight out of the box before I messed around with it.

maybe ya shoulda rma'd it then :)

So you got a card that didn't work immediately, then you OCed it and you are wondering why you have problems? Is it too late to return the thing?

well, I heard there was something wrong with the vpu, so I was hoping this was just an all around problem so I wouldn't have to wait and send it back...but I guess i was wrong.

Gotta be the card, if it was a problem with 6800's in general there'd be a lot of discussion on it, but this is the first time I've ever heard of this. RMA it.

Well. White dots are always a bad thing, it can be caused by heat or a physically defective card. As far as the colors being dominant, have you tried adjusting the RGB values in the diver settings? Make sure the heatsink is making contanct with the GPU. Overwise RMA it, I still dont understand why you unlocked the pipes and overclocked if it was defective before, if your last video card didn't do that, wouldnt that be a small sign that somthing is wrong?

He probably screwed it enabling all 16 pipes, and when you go back to 12, it doesn't always use the same 12 pipes it did out of the box. I have a hard time believing he didn't attempt to unlock the pipes right out of the box. But he's going to RMA it anyway, and increase costs for the rest of us.

I'd also install drivers that officially support the 6x00 series...61.77 and up... Unless you meant 61.77 when you said 61.76

Sounds like a bad card...I used a eVGA 6800nu on a rig I built for a coworker and I also unlocked the pipes and oc'ed it close to what you have (actually 370 on the core). He's been running that thing for nearly a month now with no complaints.

No, I didn't mess it up while unlocking the pipes...that would in no way cause for a lack of DVD playback -- especially when I get no artifacting, enhanced fps and graphics sharpness, and have very stable temps. It's just a bad card. I spoke with eVGA and newegg and they're going to replace it.

I'm also sorry to the guy that thinks I'm going to be some cause for a raise in price because eVGA sent out a bad product...my bad. Guess I'll just burn my $270 dollars next time instead of expecting to buy what I paid for. Also, Rivatuner shows you which pipes and shaders that where disabled even after you enable them...it's extremely easy to set it back to it's defaults if you run into problems. Guess you should mess around with rivatuner before you speak on the subject, eh? Get a clue, man.

sounds like a software/configuration problem, since the the video processing isnt even being done by the GPU yet. At least not in the early drivers like the 61.76, so I don't THINK its the card.

I could be wrong, but isnt all the video processing being done by the CPU, not the GPU in the 61.76 drivers. Maybe uninstall drivers, DVD/ video application, driver cleaner, then reinstall drivers, & dvd application

Man you just got a bunk card man. RMA the bitch and be done with it.

Don't let the nay-sayers convince you and your kind will be the reason their nexd vid card will cost $900.

We all learned a lesson from this though right? If it's fucked out of the box then don't try to ignore the problem... yes... that sounds right....

i also was having the same kind of problems with my 6800gt ,i had a thermaltake 480w psu ,tested it with a multimeter full load on the cpu it said the psu was fine, pulled my hair out trying to find out whats wrong wound up rmaing two cards the third did the same ,so i hooked my system up to a outside enermax 420 psu BANG!all graphic corruption dissapeared! worked great! mt power unit even tho it should have carried the load crapped out! i got a bad one that didnt have the amps, these cards are big power hogs you better make sure ya got the amps on the 5v and 12v rail more so if ya overclock {takes more power}and the load increases with how many drives ect.

No actually I think you need to get a clue .. if the card was not working when you got it fine whatever return it and get a new card.

The second you changed it from the " factory specs " you accept that you might mess up your card end of story

I don't feel sorry for anybody that after they change from factory specs on any item and it starts to mess up and then they cry about it you know what grow the fuck up welcome to the real world and read some old articles about the stuff we used to back in the day when all hardware cost a arm and leg we did it to push the edge not to cry like a little BIT** when something went wrong.

Before we get "Holier than thou art" why not read my post? I never said it fucked up after I messed with the specs. I had some color spectrum corruption. I had heard of the bad vpu's on the cards which makes the cpu do most of the work. I had figured it was just that...nothing else. No reason to RMA the card at that point. Again, the DVD playback was not working at the start...not after I tweaked it.

Now, I could understand somebody coming down on me if I had tweaked it before it was acting up and that the tweaks caused the mess-ups, but I didn't. I was under the impression, which may or may not be my own fault, that the card was just like this with video (dvd, streaming, etc...) It worked fine for the games, so why should I think any differently. After talking with eVGA today, and reading posts here, I realized that this is not normal and I am RMA'ing it.

Now, doesn't that make your post seem a bit more immature since you didn't know the story? Who needs to grow up? This is why you shouldn't always jump at the chance to be high and mighty.

Anyway, it's RMA'd. If it ups your prices by .00001 cent, tough cookies. I'm not paying my hard earned cash for something that was busted out of the box.
