Hey I think I'm going to get a GeForce 6600 GT 128... but before I do I have a few questions. Theres also the Geforce 6600 256 and its quite a bit cheaper. Whats the difference between the GT and the regular and then the 256 and the 128.

I play games like warcraft 3, dark age of camelot, lineage 2, coutnerstrike, and I plan on playing vanguard and dark and light. So if you could relate the card to these games.

Also does the company matter like BFG, XFX, eVGA, ect. Because BFG seems to be like 40$ more expensive than the XFX or eVGA.

Give as much input as possible please I'm not too knowledgeable. Also feel free to give any other card suggestions that might be better than the one I'm considering thats around the 200$ range. Thanks!

in the future please use the search button located conviently at the top of EVERY PAGE ON THIS SITE

there are over eleventybillion threads about which 6600gt is best, and what the differences are between the gt and non-gt cards

basically bfg is the best, just buy it

if you want vivo get the msi

/end thread

Sorry its my first post here heh... do you happen to know anything about the ATI 9800 pro? i hear they are also good for that price range. And im just curious why is the BFG better than the other brands and is it really worth the extra 40-50$? Thanks for the help.

BFG is a waste of money. If the price were comparable, it's be a no brainer, but for all practical purposes the XFX is a best deal, as it includes DUAL DVI outputs, a software bundle and is widely available for a price much lower than the BFG boards.
Like he said, if you want VIVO the MSI board has more features in that regard.

The Radeon 9800 is seriously outclassed by the NV4x series of chipsets. Dont' buy one, it's slow and overpriced, and lacks the newer futures found on nvidia's latest boards.

The 256MB 6600's are not GT's. Make sure that when you buy your card it's a GT, otherwise you'll regret it. The non GT's are crippled with even slower RAM, and a 200mhz slower core speed. It's just hype when they dumb 256MB of slow cheap ram on...there are enough suckers who buy them!

I concur, with one exception:
The only advantage to the BFG model is a lifetime warranty. If you plan on keeping the card for a long time, then the extra $40 may be worth it to you.
