Wow that was stupid (in case your 6800 pro=6800 ultra), I mean the 6800 ultra>6800 gt>x800pro...and yes I agree Ati>nVidia in image quality but that's about all.

^^ see my post above... tranny is an nVidia PR guy, he will never admit any probs. with nv cards. BTW contrary to what tranny claims, we are not down playing these features because we purchased ATi cards. Cornelius just switched recently and I had a 6800 GT when they initially came out and didn't like it. Since then I had multiple opportunities to purchase a 6800 based card and chose the PE route instead. Simply put, I feel the XT PE is a better card overall.

I dont get ıt 99% of the people posting on these forms dont give a damn about futur proof because he's already going to buy the newest generation of cards. So why ıs everyone talking about FUTUR PROOF

Because there are big changes on the way, plus I'd rather let the waters calm down and see what will happen in the future rather then jumping to a new socket/new ram mobo etc.
For me and I bet a lot of us still think of this as an alternative, I mean I don't want a 2x6800 ultra sli configuration and ddr2 with the performance of old sim memory.
I want the P4P800 of the future with ddr2, 2xpcie 16x not just some mobos that have 500 mhz ddr2 and a 3.4 Prescott that is geting worse performances in games than Northwood.

Not really true. It is more like this:

1. (tie, depending on the game) X800XT-PE vs. 6800 Ultra
2. (tie, depending on the game) X800XT vs. 6800GT
3. X800 Pro (12 pipes)
4. 6800 (12 pipes)

It is generally accepted that the XT-PE is slightly faster overall than the 6800 Ultra, if only for clock speed reasons. While the 6800U has it's big claim to fame, Doom3, the XT-PE holds it's own quite easily in that arena and pretty much beats the 6800U in D3D games, especially with high levels of AA and AF. However, Nvidia hit a homerun with the 6800GT because ATI has nothing at that price point with 16 pipes to compete with it. If you go by $$$ the GT is the bang for the buck card, period.

Reviewers are always comparing the X800 Pro to the 6800GT which is an inherent problem because they are comparing price points. The true ATI equivalent should be the X800XT, 16 pipes, all of that. Sure, ATI's 16 pipe card (XT) is overpriced compared to the 6800GT, and that is selling lots of GT's for them. Us poor folk that want an XT-PE but are not willing to spend the extra $$$ premium to buy one in the box, are forced to take the VIVO modls and make our own. Which, by the way, is very fun for hardware geeks to mess with.

The fact that we can even argue about who is fastest is a bonus! Without competition we would all be paying $350 for Ti4600 speeds.... :D

I am a very recent convert from the overclocked 6800GT camp as well...like, 2 weeks ago.

I've read it a few times and still haven't found anything there that I really object too, well said.

I agree with this statement which is why Im getting an Xt-Pe to be able to play at lower resolutions in the future at full detail rather than playing at low res and low detail.
