GECUBE any good ???

have that card myself.

this review at newegg pretty much sums it up:

the card is a little deceptive. You should know a few things. First, it's actually on a X1950Pro PCB. Second, those are not real copper heatsinks, but rather light aluminum painted to copper. Third, the memory runs at 700MHZ (1400), which falls short of the true XT spec of 900MHZ (1800). Also, the cooler itself performed terribly. You will NEED to buy the Zalman VF900, or else suffer 90C peak temps and shuttle-like noise.

although i dont agree with the last sentence. sure ive seen 100C (only in age of empires 3, all other games max of 85C). i cant hear the fan at all.

i havnt had any problems with my 1950xt agp, and ive had it since april. been running it at the factory recommended 675mhz since then too. highest temps ive seen with it are 70c, with an average being 65c as the high point. idles at 39-41c. the fan doesnt start to ramp up til 66 or 67C so i almost never hear it.

Cause they ramped up speeds on the card way to much for the piece of shit cooler to handle. And the quality of the heatsink (the TEC unit) is shit. And their quality control is shit. Seriously, I'd go with MSI or Sapphire over GeCube anyday.

so the only thing to complain about the card is the heatsink ?!
I dont care about the heatsink , im gonna watercool the card anyways .
I actually thought someone would mention something about the performance in whatever game :(

was good enough for me to play Bioshock at 1600x1200 fully maxed out and no AA. i was hitting a cpu wall though, so with a faster cpu it would have been much better.

I have the card and the first card I received had overheating issues, it's the only flaw in the GeCube card, is because that sometimes the cooler is not tight enough and tends to loose contact with the GPU overheating it, just tight them up or find here in these forums about the GeCube X1950XT AGP Mod for the cooling. I RMA'd it and I received the second one in april, and since then, I haven't had any single problems.

It idles between 38 and 41C and in full load max between 58 and 63C. Runs stable, was able to max Bioshock at 1280x1024, it was even playable at 4x FSAA, it ran between 27-84fps. As far as you're not CPU limited, this card will give you the best peformance available for AGP which can run almost at par with their PCIe counterparts.

All of the XT's that ARENT 256mb PCIe have lower memory clocks.

Tom, can you explain? Are you saying all 256MB AGP XT's have lower memory clocks? If that's what your saying, well yeah. Gecube is the only one that makes a X1950XT in AGP. Or are you saying all 512B PCI-E XT cards have lower memory clocks? I think the usage of the word "arent" is the confusing part.

doesnt matter , its sold out anyways and it doesnt look like coming back in stock :(
