Looks awesome! Can't wait to see your temps and how the final setup looks. :D

WOW

Looks very professional. Well done. :)
I'm looking forward to the rest.

This keeps looking better and better! I love your work, its really nice and clean! Cant wait to see those temps!

Nice job on the new wiring btw ;)

Ok guys got a few more updated pics now.
Went over to my boy "drftkng" and check out some of his new stuff and he took some pics of it for me.

The oil sep "IN" has a tiny pinhole leak. I got this leak detector stuff that you can spread over joints and it bubbles up right on it. Fortunately, its on the top and i'll just heat up the brass and let it flow and i think that will probally fix it. If not, i've got some brass rods i'll add to it a little bit. Anyways, the suction hose has been repaired now w/ a tig braze and is all good. Got everything brazed together and only need to insulate the feeder line from the HX to the PEV and that will be it. Will try to gas it up this Friday or Saturday and start tuning it up.

Also, i've insulated the HX box again, the part that got burnt up from the torch. It's drying as we speak. When it dries i'll trim up the overflow and lay down a front piece of 1/2" neoprene and cover it w/ black tap to finish it off.

Pics below, and ejoy!!

VERY nice work thus far bro, I'll be watching this as it progresses, nice to see [H] finally getting' some cascade action going on. :D

wow, nice work. I love how clean and compact it looks compared to other cascades I've seen

Thanks man. I wish more people would try to make them look better. It's not hard. Going to braze up the pinhole it had in it today and then but some pressure on it for 24hours and see how it does. I should be picking up the gas by this saturday hopefully, if not next week.

It should look really cool when i get the shell made up for it. I just need to get it totally done before i get the sheet metal case fabricated for it. I think i'm going to mod the side of the case w/ a plexi window for kicks and giggles.

Very nice to hear/see you're actually going for looks on this one, props for that one.

Still can't wait to see some numbers. ;)

Again, nice work on the small design....makes me wanna order one if you were a business :D Especially with a sexy side panel.

Thanks man, i've thought about maybe building one everynow and then for people. I dunno though. It's alot faster once you get all the parts at once then go at it.

Do you know of any where online you can buy those t-line style schrader valves?

I sell/can get just about everything you could possibly need for HVAC stuff.

You got return PM bud.

Very nice.

What's the max heat load on that?

You gonna put it in some kind of case/cabinet?

I haven't put it under load yet. To be honest, its pissing me off right now. It takes about 5 min for the 1st stage to settle (which i think is slow) and then i have to tinker on the 2nd stage expansion valve to get it to -100. I think i'm a hair under charged on 1st stage and maybe slightly overcharged on 2nd stage.

running 205psi static of ethylene on 2nd stage. I think that may be kinda high. I'm still screwing around with it though.

I'll maybe try to fool w/ it tommorow and get it to handle some load. The good thing is though, the expansion valve feels like it has a good range to meter the gas w/. I gave it a few turns while it was resting at -100.

another thing that sucks is i thought i could pull off the 1st stage w/ a 1/2hp and i have, but man it has to be just right on the charge. I'm running it about 0psi and/or a slilght vaccum w/ 502 and i think its helping to really condense the 2nd stage better. But this sucks cuz i'd rather have it around -35 instead of -50 w/ a bigger compressor. I think i'm gonna use this cascade on a GPU and use 2 3/4 hp's on a CPU cascade.

I'm new to this game, but I am not aware of any "instant on" cascades. Mine takes a few minutes first stage, then the second kicks in. 5 minutes does seem a little long...

I'd be perfectly happy with -100C even if it's jerry rigged to get there. :D

Ya i'm happy w/ it for sure. Just a hassle to have to fiddle with it so precisely. But hell, it's WAY WAY WAY WAY better than using cap tube.

It's gonna have to be adjusted some i think for each run on it.

Nice work. I am tooo damn lazy for anything of the sort..I just go pre-made :D

I must say that I have NEVER heard of that refrigerant. Cant wait to see some pics of it actually installed in your box. Gonna get some sweet OC's out of that :)

I guess i forgot to update the thread. The 1st stage compressor had a mechanical failure and died. I think it was a combination of being to small and overworked and the oil in it i used didn't like it.

Here's some pics below of when it was installed. The 1st stage just couldn't hold enough load to condense enough gas....so it just subcooled the 2nd stage gas to about -20 load or so, and it posted and was stable at 4.8ghz, but didn't bother testing anymore. I am although, pretty impressed at only -20 C it was able to reach 4.8 ghz easily. So i think there is alot more room left in this chip, once i get the cascade repaired w/ 2 new piston driven compressors.

One pic of when it was installed, but never ran correctly due to the failure.

Looks cool, even if it's broken :p I assume this is the system in your sig?

What kind of guitar/bass is that in the background?

Ya, its the system in my sig.

The wooden bass guitar you see is a Washburn 24 fret dual hum. 9v double trussed 6-string bass. I have an ESP 24 fret dual hum. 9v 4 string not pictured and the amp is a 15" peavy scorpian 115 Sub amplifier.

I thought that was way too much power for that small system. Even 1 scroll is plenty! Now to add a vid card to the system somehow :p

PS. Yep thats a pretty insane OC :) Good job!

What you mean 1 scroll is plenty?

I have a seperate 1 stage GPU cooler for whatever video card i add to this system after i get it done. I haven't bought a video card yet, i wanna get the cascade tuned up well and get it tweaked good for a CPU and then get my single stage tweaked for a NB or GPU. I also havea LN2/DICE container almost finished.

Once i get some replacement parts in, when i get done i'll have a nice single stage cooler for NB or GPU, a DICE tube and 2-stager w/ lots of load. Then i'll see what i can do as far as benchmarks go.

Allright I forgot, you mentioned that earlier.

Speaking of phase-changers, I just found a De-Humidifier, while I was curb shopping. I dont know whats wrong with the people that live near me. It is but a year old (made by kenmore), I took it apart, and it barely has any dust inside it. Runs fine and quiet. I may take a peek later at the charge in it to see what the pressures are. Its got a Americold compressor for a heart, and the evap and cond. coils look brand new.
I may go waterchilled, unlike your phase changed setup. The only thing stopping me is how to figure out how to successfully insulate a 6800 Ultra, so that no condensation forms, and of course my P4 3.4 :p.

I bet you really have to be carefull with condensation gcl, seeing you live in Flordia, and its usually humid and all.

I have yet to see a 6800 Ultra that is watercooled AND is using a chiller to keep the water cool.

Its funny, a few weeks ago I found ANOTHER kenmore unit. It was really old and noisy though. Still runs like a charm though. I rater go with the newer, quieter one though. Oh and I have access to R-22, the old one only ran on R-12 (pain to find anymore).

Good luck with yours none the less, are you planning to put it in a case when al lis said and done?

i can't fit the cascade inside a case. It's massive. Like 150lbs and 2 feet long and just aboug as tall. The single stage could fit under a case like a Vapo or something. I have a casing for it. I'll post some pictures of it when i get some more time.

I meant the mobo itself, and have the pipe coming out of the case. I know you arent going fit that whole cascade into a case.

Hmm come to think of it a server case may do :p

Very nice bro, and even if you have/had been frustrated with it, 'grats on breaking -100c.....very nice stuff. :D

Well guys, the last couple parts to repair the cascade should be here tommorow. I did however get a new smaller desuperheater to use on the 2nd stage. I've also now got both new compressors to use now. A 1horsepower and 3/4horsepower. Almost doulbe the total power i had on the last build.

Pics below of the small Air condensoer for 2nd stage.

cornwallus...holy F...your almost at 10,000 posts....insane!

Well, i had taken a bit of time off due to my gf (of three months on the 23rd) but I'm back in full force now. Take two years on these forums, combined with a lack of much of a social life for most of that duration and that's what I'm left with. I don't dwell on the raw post count as much as I used to, but my goal atm is still to clear 10k...a lot of it is posts like my last one, but I pride myself in knowing that the majority of my 9.5k posts are actually ontopic, discussion related comments...it's nice to be well known and respected around here.

But anyways, I digress.....MOAR PIX!!!!! :D
