gawd this is so sweet!

here's hoping that fan doesnt blow and snow in and your system explodes...

So you shared with us the temps of the cpu and NB, but what is the temp in your room and can you still move your fingers??? :D

Tri-pod? Am I just dense? I don't get it.
the picture is blurry :p

but yeah, condensation (which is what iw as getting at with the snow comment..) is gonna kill that thing, id be real careful...

i can only do this in the winter. but still its so cool. its basically free water cooling.

Makes me wonder what kind of temps you would get with water cooling :D

if he had water he could just sit his resovior outside and let nature cool it and keep the condensation away from his components, that would be so much safer..

heh even that wouldn't keep the condensation away from the components. He would have to insulate all of the tubing and possibly even the socket to keep condensation from happening cause the water will...hopefully be lower than ambient which is what causes condensation.

Not going to happen. Everything in his case is going to be warmer than the air and so would encourage water to evaporate, not the other way around. Example: we have electronics running in a deli fridge at the lab. They've been on and running fine for years.

If you were running a water loop like this and just hanging the radiator out in the cold, you could conceivably have condensation problems if the water was running colder than your inside-the-house temperatures. Probably not too likely to happen though.

nice, how cold did it end up getting in your room?
i tried the same thing the other day, but i could only get mt room down to 10c (no window fan, -8c outside)
maybe i'll try somethign similar to your duct.. i have a lot of cardboard laying around :p

A deli fridge is different from a computer case. All the evaporating water is going to gather at the top of every ledge and ceiling in his case. Including but not limited to:
The circuit side of hard drives
the underside of video cards.
The PSU, and of course the top of the case.

water only condensates on things that are colder than the surrounding air, how cold the derw point is usualy dependant on humidity.
that being said, blow cold air into a case, you'll be fine. just worry when the air your blowing suddenly heats up. then you'll have warm air hitting cool metal, and that's a problem. though if he has a constant air supply from a fan, he should be all right

Nope. No way the incoming air is going to get warmer than any surface in his computer.
About the deli case: you understand that this is a computer in a fridge, right? It's just fine. And it's at ~100% humidity.

Nice setup, in Washington state the weather can't decide what the hell it's gonna do so no cooler tmps for me.

I did this one winter a few years ago. Never had any problems.

did a LAN a while back in a 10C garage, ran higher clocks at lower temps than ever before - cpu never got above 36C running at 248FSB while gaming for 6 hrs

Nice, makes me want to try O/C'ing next winter when I have a new mobo :)

ok, im cooling my cpu from the outside, where its like 10F. very cold. and i can hit 4ghz stable on my cpu. it idle's at 26C. beforce it would idle at 55C.

That's a neat idea. Except, you're so cold and shaking so badly that you can't hold the camera steady!

.B ekiM

I can just picture a snow drift filling up his PC with ice :O
awesome OC on air d00d!

just because it's on the same topic. i've been running this setup for a few days without any condensation issues. exhaust air is 16ºc. the intake air to the cpu is probably around 10ºc

however, i can't get anywhere near 4ghz :( :p
