Are Gateway PCs any good?
Some guy is selling a brand new Gateway PC with an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for a nice price, but is there a price to be paid for owning a "brand name" PC? (by "brand name" i mean Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc... but not Alienware, ABS, Falcon, etc..)

i have the same exact machine you are talking bout , it was good ... but i tore it apart an used everything but the motherboard an new case , if you dont care about overclocking & tweaking , than its a good system , scored pretty nice aswell in 3dmark 05 with a 7800 gt in it ... i paid 600$ for the system open box at Circuit city , it was WELL worth it

just beware , another reason i upgraded boards (i couldnt use my TV tuner with the onboard sound , no Aux or CD IN...)

also before i even booted the system up i changed out PSU's to a much higher one , no way a 300watt would handle 2 hds , 2cdroms , an a 7800

i dont much like gateway machines... but that is based on my experiences with circa 2001 models, which were absolute crap... both desktop and laptop. they might have gotten better, but i dont think ill ever buy one again.

Hmm... what motherboard does the system have?
The specs they give are a little vague
